Chamaedorea costaricana is a small and attractive clumping palm that reaches a height of about 3 meters.
It is native to Costa Rica and grows very vigorously on the humid mountain forests from 1000 to 2000 meters in altitude.
This ornamental palm can be easily kept indoors as it tolerates partial shade. It is also chill resistant down to about 25 degrees Fahrenheit which makes it ideal as an ornamental on northern climates.
It's canes are similar to bamboo in appearance, although this plant is NOT a bamboo.
The leaves are dark green and glossy. The seeds are very viable and the palms are easy to grow. They are fast growers on a moist shady spot.
